Gilbert Gottfried is out of a gig this morning!!!

After a over a decade, the actor/comedian who WAS the voice of the duck in the Aflac insurance commercials, was fired yesterday after he Tweeted several jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“Gilbert’s recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac,” the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Michael Zuna tells PEOPLE.

“Aflac Japan – and by extension, Japan itself – is part of the Aflac family,” he adds, “and there is no place for anything but compassion and concern during these difficult times.”

Here are some of  Gilbert’s Tweets which have all been deleted by now:

“Japan called me. They said ‘maybe those jokes are a hit in the U.S., but over here, they’re all sinking.’”

“I was talking to my Japanese real estate agent. I said ‘is there a school in this area.’ She said ‘not now, but just wait.’”

”I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They’ll be another one floating by any minute now.’”
