Frank Ocean Reveals His First Love Was A Man “I Feel Like A Free Man Now”

Frank Ocean‘s debut album ‘Channel Orange’ received some great reviews earlier this week, some dared to compare him to the late great Michael Jackson.
But one thing has overshadowed the greatness of the album, his mention of bisexuality in three of his songs, which immediately prompted everyone to assume that Frank was using using his debut project to also come out of the closet as a gay man.
Now in order to clear things up and finally “free” himself, Frank took to his Tumblr on Tuesday night and posted a private letter which he wrote last year, in which he breaks down his first same-sex relationship.
Frank:
“I met somebody. I was nineteen years old. He was too. We spent that summer and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together time would glide. Until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often spend with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was my first love. It changed my life.”
Anticipating the backlash he would receive from the Hip Hop community, Frank ends his letter by saying: “I feel like a free man now. If I listen closely. I can hear the sky falling too.”
The question now is: will fans be able look past his sexual preferences and simply focus on the greatness of his talent? I would hope so. I applaud you bravery Frank Ocean.
