Mariah Carey’s 2001 Glitter Album Makes No.1 on iTunes
Queen of ‘high notes’ Mariah Carey is without a doubt a pop icon in these streets. Her iconic status has landed her at the top of the iTunes album charts, but not for her latest album Caution that dropped today (Nov16).
Carey’s 17-year old album Glitter has been revitalized to it’s former glory after it’s flop in 2001. On the eve of her album, her fans aka “Lambs” came through for their queen. According to Slate, this Thursday (Nov 15) “Glitter surged to the top of the iTunes album charts as Carey’s “lambs” created a #JusticeForGlitter hashtag to demand recognition for the old album.” Her fans believed the album deserved a second chance after it released on September 11, 2001, one of the most horrific days in American history.
Between the dedication of her little lambs and twitter, Glitter has earned it’s stripes, or should we say sparkles on the chart.
Check out the appreciative message Mariah sent her fans via Twitter:
I have to dedicate today's #tbt to Glitter, which is currently #1 on the iTunes albums chart, 17 years after its release and on the eve of my new album release! My fans are THE BEST 💖💖💖 #JusticeForGlitter!! LET'S GO #CAUTION⚠️ pic.twitter.com/i2v8Zkp1oy
