For years Honey German’s life was the epitome of success and inspiration until an unexpected stroke of fate changed everything.
One night in July 2020, she went to bed a vibrant young woman full of dreams, and by morning, she found herself in the ICU, her life forever altered by a stroke that left her with no control over the left side of her body. As she grappled with the harsh reality of her new existence—speech affected, face drooping, confined to a wheelchair — Honey could have succumbed to despair and depression. However, fueled by her unyielding warrior spirit, with sword in hand she faced that comeback challenge head-on.
After undergoing brain surgery, Honey entered Kessler rehabilitation center where she lived for weeks, bewildered by the daunting task of reconnecting her brain to her left side. Undeterred, she embarked on a journey of recovery—physical, nutritional, mental, and spiritual. She coined her experience the "Stroke of Valor" and pledged to turn this setback into super strength for the ultimate comeback. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, but for years Honey persisted despite doctor after doctor telling her she may never fully recover and be disabled for life.
Against all odds, Honey began to defy expectations. With unwavering commitment and the support of her Husband, Sisters, Therapists and much faith, she underwent surgeries, logged countless hours in therapy, and overhauled her entire life. The Stroke of Valor became a beacon of resilience, and Honey, once confined to a wheelchair, now walks on her own two feet, hand in hand with the divine as she still continues to make progress.
Today, Honey is not just a survivor; she's a thriver on a mission to help others via Life Coaching. While still working full time in media, she has become an advocate for Disability and Stroke Awareness, partnering closely with The American Heart Association. Her mantra, "a setback is a setup for a comeback," echoes through her life and advocacy work. She has transformed her experience into life/purpose coaching, using her firsthand journey as proof that with hard work, commitment, and dedication, we can turn the darkest setbacks into our own masterpieces.
Honey's story is a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the power of resilience. Through her advocacy and coaching, she continues to inspire others, proving that no setback is insurmountable with the right mindset and determination. Honey, once a stroke survivor unsure if recovery was even possible, has now found her purpose and emerged as Life Coach and a guiding light, reminding us all that the true art of living lies in our ability to rebound from life's most challenging strokes.
To enhance her effectiveness, skills and overall success in helpings others, she obtained a Professional Life Coaching Certification from the Certified Life Coaching Institute which is accredited by The International Coaching Federation (ICF).
